Rick Johannessen is an Executive Director and leads the alternative investment business at Wellesley Partners with coverage responsibilities for hedge fund and private equity searches in Asia. Rick's track record ranges from placing recent post-MBA's through to Partners with both start-up funds and the largest global mega funds. He has been a recruiter to the alternative asset industry in Asia since 2002.

Prior to joining Wellesley, Rick was a Managing Director and the Head of Asia for Glocap Search based in New York. Previous to this, he co-founded an alternative asset focused search boutique based in Hong Kong. Before entering executive search, his work experiences include business development for a Goldman Sachs funded B2B exchange during the internet boom, and, currency trading during the Asian financial crisis.

Rick is conversant in Cantonese, Japanese and Mandarin, and is a graduate of the School of International Service at American University in Washington D.C.

In the 2012 AsiaMoney Headhunters' Poll Rick was individually ranked # 2 in Hedge Funds and # 5 in Private Equities / Venture Capital.
